You’re invited to a Potato Party! Why? Because you only turn 33 once. Furthermore, as a Hobbit, I love a good potato. And I love a theme. 2025 brought many events, so I’m celebrating my birthday, graduating with honors from my master’s program in library and information science, and creating a home with my partner, Colin. 3 things, 1 party!
That’s right, this is a housewarming-graduation-birthday party, and you’re invited! It’s on Saturday, November 22, from 4-9pm. Stop in anytime! (And please reach out if you need my new address.) Street parking is free but just make sure to read the signs.
What to expect at this tubular event?
- Potluck: Bring a cold or hot potato dish to pass! This is a peanut-free, coconut-free, and alcohol-free event. Please label your ingredients, labels save lives.
- Dancing: We’ll have both potato-themed music and be busting some moves, including the mashed potato.
- Trivia: Calling all cine-spuds! Our fave tuber has made the big screen many times, and you can test your knowledge. This might be a virtual option, if folks can attend that way.
- Costumes Encouraged: Dress like a Hobbit, Mr. Potato Head, or yourself. Costumes are optional!
- Help Us Get a Couch (Potato): Donate via Venmo if you’d like. This supports my looming grad loans and also warms the house. Optional too, of course.
- Tots: All ages and plus-ones are welcome!

This spuderific event has passed. See you later, tators!
Thanks so much for bringing gnocchi, smashed potatoes, maple squash and potatoes, potato soup, potato lentil cakes, and ube treats, as well as your lovely selves. Personally, I can’t wait for more ube macha. The playlist was smooth like gravy, so stay tuned for another event. We’re thinking bEATs bash, where food match song titles!
